NEW DELHI: The CISF will soon get over 6,600 further group of workers to strengthen its power for its two primary duties of guarding the Delhi Metro and VIPs, officials stated on Thursday.

They stated an 'in principle' approval has been accorded for the sanction of 5,140 posts to improve the capability of the drive for guarding the new phase-III enlargement of the Delhi Metro, while every other 1,540 posts will likely be in position to strengthen the power of its VIP security wing called the Special Security Group (SSG).

The approval is in the ultimate levels and a total of 6,680 posts will likely be sanctioned for those two duties via the Union Home Ministry, they stated.

CISF Director General (DG) Rajesh Ranjan confirmed the advance and informed PTI that ensuring fool-proof security for the Delhi Metro and its passengers is a very powerful process for the paramilitary.

The DG, who took charge on April 11, had the day gone by reviewed the protection preparations on the metro and visited some stations.

The phase-III enlargement venture of the Delhi Metro is being applied at a value of around Rs 40,000 crore and a total of 140 km of community will likely be added to the present protection of 213 km.

The latest section, with some part already operational, can even upload 15 interchange stations to the present nine and will take the depend of general stations in the Delhi-NCR to 227.

The fresh manpower of the CISF will likely be used to guard this community, the officials stated.

About nine,000 CISF men and women are these days deployed to secure the present stations of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

The drive that guards over 70 VIPs like National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley will deploy the fresh manpower to fill existing posts and enlarge the SSG wing, they stated.

The SSG, they stated, has about 1,200 group of workers in place as of now.


The Central Industrial Security Force is the nodal agency to guard the Delhi Metro, however some spaces like the access and exit points and the passage to the stations -- the unpaid spaces -- are not beneath its duvet.


These spaces are collectively secured via the CISF and the metro unit of the Delhi Police.


DG Ranjan stated the drive has ready a plan to "proactively" secure those gray spaces via deploying special patrol groups and quick response groups.


"My aim is to usher in more and more welfare projects for the force personnel like creating more accommodation facilities for them and initiating measures for financial literacy among the personnel," he stated.
