Civic body staff protest for 2 hrs, present list of demands to mayor, MC commissioner

LUDHIANA: Showing resentment against the assault at the MC groups all through eviction drive in Giaspura apartments, the civic officials staged a two-hour long protest and gate rally on the D zone office in Sarabha Nagar on Tuesday.

During their protest, they introduced an extended listing of demands in entrance of Mayor Balkar Sandhu and MC Commissioner Jaskiran Singh. The staff demanded that energy to check in FIR in such circumstances must be with the police officials deputed in MC and the civic body legal professionals must fight such circumstances.

The staff have given a 7-day ultimatum to the civic authorities and feature asked the MC commissioner and mayor to make sure the arrest of those liable for the assault on MC crew in Giaspura on May 17. They want the MC commissioner and the mayor rapid arrest of the attackers so that a robust message goes out. Otherwise, the employees threatened to protest once more.

The staff also rued that when they are out at the field performing their duties, they face resentment and are attacked by means of the folk. However, in absence of the powers with MC, the officials are required to stay up for the police to take action.

The chairman of Municipal Employees Sangharsh Committee, Ashwani Sahota mentioned, “The MC police must have energy to check in the FIR against such persons like electrical energy division who officers have the authority to check in FIR at the spot.”

He added, “Moreover, the employees have to face issues in fighting the circumstances in eventualities where police check in the FIR. Therefore, the MC criminal mobile must maintain the duty.”

Reacting to the demands of the MC staff, mayor Sandhu mentioned they'll imagine the demands of the body of workers and can attempt to fulfill them. He mentioned they'll attempt to carry a resolution within the MC common area.


Meanwhile, the sweltering warmth did trouble the officials and staff. Most of them had been noticed status at the parking facet or inside the MC office. One of the employees mentioned, “Usually, the union contributors prepare for tents. But this time, there was once no such association, so we needed to stand within the parking facet because it was once so hot.


Visitors pressured


The visitors to the MC places of work confronted slight harassment since most of the MC staff had been protesting for two hours. Though Suvidha Centre staff remained on their seats for the selection of belongings tax, water and sewerage dues and receiving the packages for the TS-1 certificates, building plan approval, alternate of possession etc but since other officials weren't on their seats, so the pending paperwork may no longer achieve the Suvidha Centre. Hence, citizens needed to both wait or leave.


Subhash Chander, a resident of Model Town, visited MC office to collect TS-1 certificate. He also sought after to get some paperwork signed by means of the involved superintendent, who was once no longer on his seat. “I had come for TS-1 certificate, but the officer was once no longer on his seat. It is sheer harassment, and nobody can stay up for two hours right here. Those other people attacked officers and now the officers are harassing most people,” he mentioned.
