COIMBATORE: Five other folks were arrested on Friday on fees of branding a 20-year-old guy with a sizzling iron rod.
The incident came about on May 13 at Somanur at the outskirts of the city, police sources stated. “However, the victim, M Gopinath of Samalapuram in Tirupur district, who claims to belong to schedule caste (Arunthathiyar), lodged the grievance on Saturday. The five men abused him the use of his caste name,” a police officer stated.
Gopinath sought after police to e book the lads underneath the Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The complainant used to be operating in a hardware store at Somanur, the officer stated. “On May 13, around 4pm, he used to be approached by means of one Saravanan, who requested him to discuss with a house close to the shop. But, once he reached the house, he used to be kept underneath wrongful confinement and used to be crushed significantly by means of five other folks, including Saravanan. He used to be also branded with a sizzling iron rod earlier than freed,” the officer stated.
Gopinath, who used to be admitted in the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for remedy, lodged the grievance with Karumathampatti police on Friday. Police registered a case against B Prabhakaran, N Dhanesh, Ok Dharmarajan, M Sathiyamurthy and M Saravanan, all hailing from Somanur underneath Sections 147, 148, 323, 342, 324 and 506 (ii) of IPC and arrested them.
However, the arrested men instructed police that Gopinath tried to go into Saravanan’s house by means of putting off glass roof tiles. He used to be crushed up after he used to be caught, they stated.
