NEW DELHI: Opposition parties keen to give a substitute for BJP must urgently start figuring out seats that can want to be shared for a united contest and the constitution of a committee will lend a hand in getting the proposal off the ground, Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi has said.
The widely known attorney, who led Congress’s criminal struggle in the Karnataka case, said the presence of several opposition leaders for the swearing-in of the Janata Dal (S)-Congress government indicated the viability of the anti-BJP undertaking but concrete steps will be needed to settle conflicting claims.
“The risk that Congress and JD (S) can have gained 52% of seats if that they had contested in combination speaks for itself. The leaderships of opposition parties must take the decision to ally prior to and no longer after polls. BJP does neatly when the opposition is split and the opposition’s credibility will upward push if it allies prior to hand,” the MP said.
Singhvi felt a national-level committee gets opposition leaders to concentrate on the problem whilst smaller committees consider claims on specific seats. “If all parties contest one at a time, the voter does no longer know whether it is fish or chook. Optics of Samajwadi and BSP leaders sharing the degree will have to no longer be lost,” he said.
