GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government has sought divine intervention for good rains. After digging state’s water our bodies deeper, the Vijay Rupani-led BJP government has made up our minds to carry 41 ‘parjanya yagnas’ on May 31 at each of the 33 districts and eight main towns within the state to soothe Lord Indra and Varun for good monsoon within the state.
The parjanya yagnas, performed to invoke rain gods and induce rainfall, were arranged on May 31to mark the fruits of Gujarat government's month-long force ‘Sujlam Suflam Jal Abhiyaan’. The force was once undertaken to desilt and deepen rivers, lakes, pond, canals and different water our bodies to reap more rain water all the way through the monsoon season.
The resolution was once taken at the state cupboard assembly hung on Wednesday. Deputy CM Nitin Patel stated, “The government has made up our minds to prepare parjanya yagna on May 31to wish for good monsoon within the state. The yagnas shall be held at 41places throughout Gujarat after which prasad shall be disbursed. I together with CM Vijay Rupani, state ministers and senior officials will participate within the yagna, which shall be adopted by a public assembly."
Gujarat is combating acute water disaster this summer season. At the peak of summer season, the 204 dams in Gujarat have most effective 29% water towards its storage capability of 25,227 million cubic meter (MCM). Last year round this time, there was once 40% water .
