NEW DELHI: Delhi HC on Wednesday limited the movements of a JNU professor accused of sexual harassment by means of girls students, after he refused to depart the campus.

The court directed the JNU to ensure Professor Atul Kumar Johri does not take charge as warden of any hostel housing girls and that he refrains from interacting with students. It also asked the professor to not visit laboratory no. 409 of the dept of lifestyles sciences where the students paintings. The directions came after JNU's recommend knowledgeable the court that Johri had resigned from administrative paintings and used to be not more the warden of any hostel or member of any committee. Justice Rajiv Shakdher puzzled the college on absence of any girls in a fact-finding committee set up by means of the vice chancellor to probe the professor's alleged misconduct. "In my view, it is also in the interest of the professor to reduce the chance of interaction with the complainants or potential witnesses," the judge stressed out, telling the university to consider if Johri will also be despatched out of the campus once the fact-finding committee provides its findings.


"These directions are made on the stand taken by JNU's counsel to provide a safe working environment to the petitioner students," the court famous, whilst hearing a petition filed by means of a number of girls students in search of suspension of the professor, towards whom eight FIRs were lodged alleging sexual harassment. tnn
