K'taka polls: App to guide you to polling booth

BENGALURU: Karnataka chief electoral officer Sanjiv Kumar on Wednesday introduced an app that may assist voters in finding their polling stations and assembly constituencies.


The app, Chunavana, which can also be downloaded from Google Play Store, willprovide data at the applicants contesting from their constituency. Some of its other options come with a GIS view of the whole state, 56,696 polling stations, navigation to the polling station by getting into EPIC details, data on queue status on the polling station, touch details of election officers, nearest police station and well being centre. Users too can use the app to e-book wheelchairs for senior voters and another way abled at polling cubicles.


The app will turn out to be useful not just all through polls but also every time new citizens need to add their names to the electoral rolls. Those in misery too can use it to reach the nearest police station and well being centre. Contact details of officers will assist ensure that clear and effective electioneering.


Poll officers have also developed a dashboard for the app, which is a one-stop store for information on Karnataka elections. It contains data on polling stations and constituencies, their barriers and facilities available on the cubicles. Population and elector details, trends witnessed all through previous polls, applicants, successful margins and comparisons have also been provided in order that citizens can make an informed decision.
