NIC launches new data centre in Bhubaneswar

BHUBANESWAR: The National Informatics Center (NIC) on Monday introduced right here its fourth information centre, its first one in jap India.
The previous information centres are at New Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune.

Union Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad inaugurated the centre in presence of Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Odisha IT Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera.

The new cloud-enabled National Data Centre aims to provide round-the-clock operations with secure internet hosting for more than a few e-governance programs of Central and state governments and has skill to fortify 35,000 digital servers.

Prasad stated that this data centre in Bhubaneswar is of global standards, and can spice up the virtual building of Odisha.

Emphasizing the significance of the brand new national information centre, he stated that it is crucial because information sanctity is essential and in the IT ecosystem, an information centre adds to the virtual clout of a state or location and raises its world profile.


In his remarks, Pradhan stated: "National Data Centre will provide better job opportunities to the youths of Odisha. We have huge human resource in digital rntrepreneurship, IT, digital governance & economy."


The information centre will cater to demand now not simply from the national initiatives but additionally from the state governments, he added.


"With a slew of government apps including mygov, eWay bill, public finance management system, eHospials all being hosted by NIC, the demand for computing and storage has increased many folds," stated NIC Director General Neeta Verma.


She stated NIC will rent 800 folks everywhere India in the next three hundred and sixty five days including 355 cyber safety execs, to take on "rising risks of cyber security"
