NEW DELHI: The state governments have not responded so far to a letter sent via an inter-ministerial committee in the hunt for ideas on framing pointers on occasions when the national anthem should be played, officials stated on Monday.
The 12-member inter-ministerial panel used to be arrange on December five, 2017 following a Supreme Court observation at the national anthem being played at cinema halls.
"We have sent a letter to all state governments about two months ago seeking their opinion on framing guidelines on circumstances and occasions on which the national anthem is to be played or sung. No state government has responded yet to the letter," a senior house ministry reputable stated.
The central govt arrange the committee after a Supreme Court bench comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud in October 2017 observed that folks "cannot be forced to carry patriotism on their sleeves" and it cannot be assumed that if an individual does not get up for the national anthem, she or he is "less patriotic".

The bench, also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, made it clear, on the other hand, that movie-goers should show appreciate to the anthem in case it is played, and they will have to face.
