Parents rush to perform aksharabhyasa at Sringeri

Sringeri (Chikkamagaluru): With the new academic year across the nook, parents are busy giving final touches to the arrangements to ship their children to college. With all Montessori and kindergartens reopening on June 1, many fogeys are speeding to Sringeri, a faraway the city of Chikkamagaluru district to accomplish aksharabhyasa (initiation of schooling) in their children at the famed Sharada Peetham.

Except on new moon days, this ritual is carried out on a daily basis at the temple. According to mutt resources, all kids within the age staff of 2 and a half years and five are eligible for this ritual.


Temple administrator VR Gowrishankar stated there's no fastened day or time to accomplish this seva. "There isn't any advance reserving and devotees can come any day and do it. "Parents offering this seva is a common sight at the temple. On Fridays, more people perform it. Last Friday, there was a huge rush at the temple. Hundreds of parents from across the state landed here to perform the seva and it continued till 2pm," stated Raghavendra, a neighborhood resident.
