Police book suo moto case for circulation of church attack videos

MANGALURU: The Mangaluru City police has booked a suo moto case towards hatemongers who circulated misleading church attack movies after ballot effects.

City police commissioner Vipul Kumar warned that those looking to disturb communal harmony can be dealt with iron hands. “We have booked a case beneath IPC sections 153A, 507 and 502. This is a step taken to make sure that such miscreants are kept beneath keep watch over, and don’t spark any communal pressure. We are investigating this issue.”


Hours after the BJP won 7 out of eight seats in Dakshina Kannada district, and all 5 seats in Udupi district, a sequence of outdated movies and photographs claiming that some churches in Mangaluru region had been attacked via right-wingers went viral on social media.
