Kohli would require a three-week rehabilitation to get well from the injury, the BCCI said.
The 29-year-old will go through a health check on June 15, which can confirm his availability for the initial phase of the United Kingdom limited-overs excursion starting with the 2 T20 Internationals against Ireland in closing week of June.
India will start the collection against England with T20Is in early July.
