AHMEDABAD: Union minister of commerce and industries, Suresh Prabhu, mentioned that the government is making efforts to advertise khadi as a globally permitted material. Prabhu used to be in Ahmedabad on Friday to inaugurate ‘Farm to Fashion – Indian Textile Global Summit 2018’, organized via Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Maskati Cloth Market Mahajan (MCMM).
“We need to promote khadi as a globally permitted fibre and are making focused efforts towards this. We have requested the Indian Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT) to work on a brand new direction in this, which might be launched soon.
