MUMBAI: An app cab journey in large daylight became out to be a nightmare for a girl as she stuck her driver masturbating at a traffic sign in Andheri (E) on Friday morning.
The woman said that when she confronted the driving force, he became abusive and threatened her. After she complained to Uber, the aggregator immediately permanently deactivated the driving force's account. She is yet to lodge a police criticism.
The incident occurred round 10.45am when the woman, who was once travelling to Seepz and was once on a call along with her husband, found the driving force looking at her in the rearview reflect. She said that as soon as she learned the driving force had unzipped and was once masturbating, she requested him to prevent the automobile and were given out. But the driving force began yelling at her for leaving without paying.
When the woman puzzled the driving force about his obscene act, he allegedly threatened her and began hurling abuses at her. She has claimed that there were no cops round and though there have been a number of onlookers, none got here to her assist.
Scared, she instructed the driving force that she would pay up and that he should backpedal. The driver demanded Rs 150 however the shocked woman could not wait to even depend the cash and hence, gave him whatever she may just fetch from her bag. She later learned she had paid him Rs 100 extra.
An Uber spokesperson said: "What's been described has no place on our app. Our community guidelines clearly reject such inappropriate behaviour. Upon learning about the incident, we immediately removed the driver partner's access to the app."
Uber officials, who checked the driving force's antecedents after the incident, said that he is a first-time offender. "The background check and criminal history checks were clear for this driver partner," a supply from the firm said.
Recently, cabbies had long past on protest and considered one of their demands was once to reinstate drivers who were blacklisted. However, officials from Ola and Uber have made it transparent that they will not reinstate any driver who has a legal report.
