BENGALURU: Byappanahalli police on Friday detained a 40-year-old woman and her 20-year-old daughter on suspicion of murdering a 13-year-old girl, who they believed was once possessed by an evil spirit. The duo allegedly beat up the woman, known as Sharanya, with a metal pipe to drive out the demon and the woman sooner or later collapsed and died from the wounds.
Police say Pramila Sagayam and her daughter Ramya S, both citizens of Vignana Nagar close to Byappanahalli, east Bengaluru, had additionally assaulted Sharanya a few month in the past.
