Woman, daughter nabbed for murdering minor girl

BENGALURU: Byappanahalli police on Friday detained a 40-year-old woman and her 20-year-old daughter on suspicion of murdering a 13-year-old girl, who they believed was once possessed by an evil spirit. The duo allegedly beat up the woman, known as Sharanya, with a metal pipe to drive out the demon and the woman sooner or later collapsed and died from the wounds.
Police say Pramila Sagayam and her daughter Ramya S, both citizens of Vignana Nagar close to Byappanahalli, east Bengaluru, had additionally assaulted Sharanya a few month in the past. Gayathri, 41, Sharanya’s mom, had complained to Pramila someday in the past that her daughter was once addicted to the tv and was once continuously on her mobile phone. Pramila informed Gayathri that Sharanya’s was once possessed with an evil spirit and that was once the cause of the addiction.

Pramila allegedly convinced Gayathri that she could rid her daughter of the spirit and police say Gayathri took Sharanya to Pramila’s residence on Wednesday to be ‘cleansed’. Police claim Pramila and her daughter Ramya thrashed the woman with a metal pipe so as to “drive out the spirit” and the woman sooner or later fell subconscious.

The two then took the woman back to her residence where she died in a while later. When Gayathri informed Pramila that her daughter was once lifeless, Pramila warned her not to reveal the truth to anyone. Later, Pramila complained to police alleging Gayathri had killed her own daughter.

Police detained Gayathri, who as according to instructions from Pramila, admitted that she had killed her daughter. But police discovered proof at the scene and the wounds at the frame of the woman didn't tally with Gayathri’s confession. Police then zeroed in on Pramila.

Police claim Pramila had attempted to divert the investigation by registering a case against Gayathri. In her criticism, Pramila claimed Gayathri was once offended together with her daughter for continuously watching tv. She claimed that during her anger, Gayathri beat Sharanya with a metal pipe which led to the woman’s dying.

Case cracked in 41 hours


Police say the case was once intriguing from the beginning since circumstantial proof didn't match Gayathri’s statement. Moreover, Gayathri saved changing her tale. Realizing she was once attempting to offer protection to the true killer, police introduced an extensive investigation. After 41 hours of investigation, Gayathri and later Pramila and Ramya, spilled the beans.


Police stated might arrest Gayathri for deceptive the investigation, however published she is being treated as an blameless for now.
