MUMBAI: The joy of getting sopping wet in the first showers of the season turned tragic for an 11-year-old girl. Shruti Yadav was once electrocuted when she touched a reside cord that was once dangling from a tree in the lawn of her housing complex in Beverly Park, Mira Road. The chairperson, secretary and treasurer of Sandstone society have been booked on Monday for inflicting death due to negligence. No one has been arrested.
The incident happened round 7.30pm on Saturday when Shruti along with six different children, together with her brother Prince (7), rushed to the lawn to play in the pre-monsoon showers. Shruti, a Class V pupil, reportedly touched a reside electric cord dangling from one of the crucial bushes and collapsed. When Prince and the opposite children rushed against her, they too suffered electric shocks.
Residents of the building rushed the youngsters to a close-by non-public sanatorium, where Shruti was once declared useless. Another child, Shraddha (12), was once kept beneath remark and the others discharged after being administered first support.
Shruti’s father Rambharat, a lecturer, alleged that the society had put up fairy lighting fixtures at the bushes four years in the past and that the lawn’s compound walls too have been weak. He stated that the electrical wires in the gardens have been sealed with tapes at more than a few spots.
Rambharat stated that round four months in the past, two children had suffered electric shock in the lawn, following which he and different contributors of the society had written to the building’s committee to remove the wires. He stated that while lighting fixtures at the society’s major iron gate have been got rid of, those at the compound walls and lawn have been retained.
The police have registered a case beneath IPC sections 304 (inflicting death by way of negligence) and 336 (act endangering existence or private safety of others) towards the chairperson, secretary and treasurer of the society.
Cops stated that they're looking forward to a document from the civic public works division, which inspected the lawn, to start up additional motion.
