MANDYA: More than one-and-a-half years after the orderly device was scrapped within the state's police power, Mandya SP G Radhika is on the centre of an argument involving at least 18 police workforce doing unusual jobs at her reputable bungalow.
Videos show police workforce watering the lawn, washing clothes and accompanying family members on day by day errands.

The SP dismissed the allegations, announcing the police workforce had been doing the chores "voluntarily". She mentioned, "I categorically deny that I have engaged those police personnel in menial works at my official residence. They are just servicing the official residence of a senior police officer and they would usually do that voluntarily."
The earlier Siddaramaiah executive had scrapped the orderly device, a legacy of the colonial British generation, in 2016. At the time, over 3,000 workforce from the reserved forces had been running as orderlies within the state.
Sources mentioned 18 police workforce, including ASI-rank officials, had been doing menial jobs on the Mandya SP's place of dwelling. Besides the chores mentioned above, no less than three police drivers had been engaged in ferrying family members around, they mentioned.
Several movies surfaced of police workforce in plainclothes acting the chores or waiting outside her reputable place of dwelling. The movies had been reportedly shot through the disgruntled police workforce themselves.
When contacted, Radhika advised TOI that she had now not engaged the police workforce. "Every police personnel is trained to render voluntary services. Also, there is no rule that only lower rung police personnel should do those services. The personnel seen in the videos are neither engaged by me to do menial works nor am I enforcing the orderly system."
A senior police officer mentioned an SP could have as much as three police workforce at home for assistance. "Radhika lives in a British-era bungalow that has a huge garden. The government itself employs gardeners and other staff. Having more than a dozen orderlies is next to impossible," the officer mentioned.
