Coimbatore: A 38-year-old man, who challenged police to arrest him on Monday while making a choice to tell them of bombs he planted, was held through the town police on Tuesday.
The accused was recognized as A Beermohammed alias Pachai melakai of Kuniyamuthur.
On Monday night time, the accused made the call to the keep watch over room from his mobile phone in an inebriated condition and alleged that he had planted bombs at several places in Kuniyamuthur space within the city, stated a police officer.
“He stated his name is Milagai Beer and refused to show the places the place bombs were planted. He saved on speaking and later challenged the police officers to find his whereabouts and arrest him if they could. They knowledgeable the town police about the name,” stated the officer.
“Shortly after making the call, the accused switched off his mobile phone. Even then, the police suspected Beermohammed as he made several such calls in the past,” the officer added.
Police waited for the mobile to be switched on and as soon because it was, they traced the site of the telephone and arrested the accused at his house in Kuniyamuthur round 7pm on Tuesday. “During questioning, he confessed that he made the hoax name to the keep watch over room,” the officer stated.
The Kuniyamuthur police registered a case beneath sections 294 (b) (recites obscene words), 506 (i) (punishment for prison intimidation) and 507 (prison intimidation through an nameless conversation) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and remanded him to judicial custody.
