BALASORE: A 35-year-old man used to be arrested from Mayurbhanj district on Saturday for allegedly raping and killing an eight-year-old woman on Friday. The accused Jamini Kanta Mahanta, an acquaintance of the kid, used to be previous arrested in an tried rape case and used to be recently out on bail.
Mahanta, who works in Bengaluru, had come to Betnoti village two days ago to have a good time the agrarian pageant of Raja. "The child was playing outside her house in Betnoti area on Friday evening when Mahanta took her for a cycle ride on the pretext of watching Raja festivities. He raped and killed her before returning to the village," stated a villager.
After failing to trace her, the kid's relatives filed a lacking criticism. Suspecting foul play, villagers caught Mahanta, tied him to a tree and thrashed him. He confessed to the crime, following which, cops were informed.
