Andhra CM exempts 20k acres from Kolleru lake

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday announced exemption of 20,000 acres of land from the Kolleru Lake house lowering the lake extension from 3rd contour to 5th contour, a protracted pending demand of the native farmers.

Naidu also promised to supply water to the Kolleru lake on common basis from the Pattiseema raise irrigation scheme, as the lake required recent water.


Naidu, whilst keeping a review assembly, accepted the request of the farmers of D Patta lands to the level of five,600 acres and others to the level of 15,0000 acres to exempt them from the lake protection house.


The decision will now convey down the level of the lake between contour three to contour 5 from the existing 78,000 acres to 58,000 acres.


Naidu also directed officials to broaden the lake right into a tourist place. He asked officials to absorb restoration of the canals and drains resulting in Kolleru and get ready them to obtain Godavari river water through the Pattiseema venture. He also directed them to construct regulators at Kottada and Chinnagollapalem to keep watch over waft of water into the lake and outdoor.
