Authority ignores CM’s statement on shifting Noida landfill site, residents continue protests

NOIDA: A day after UP CM Yogi Adityanath advised the agitating residents he had really useful that the Sector 123 landfill web site be shifted 2km, the Noida Authority claimed it was once yet to obtain this kind of written order.
At the assembly held at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra in Sector 6 on Tuesday with MLA Pankaj Singh, MP Mahesh Sharma, SSP Ajay Pal Sharma and others along with stakeholder residents/RWAs, the Authority gave a PowerPoint presentation to convince residents on having the waste to power plant in Sector 123, bringing up that the NGT order was once binding on all and that the web site falls under their master plan 2031.

However, residents brushed aside the rationale and maintained the assembly was once an eyewash as it remained inconclusive with no treatment given via authority despite CM’s directive. “If the Authority does no longer recognize the manager minister who said the landfill web site at Sector 123 should be 2km clear of residential areas within the presence of his MP and MLA, what hope can we have from it in this subject? There is not any authority above the manager minister of the state in these issues,” said Sukhveer Pahalwan, one of the vital leaders within the agitation .

About the order, CEO Alok Tandon said, “Since we’ve no longer gained any written order from the CM, we cannot comment on the subject of transferring the web site 2km away. We’ll search a clarification and get back.”

Col (rtd) P Chandra, vice-president of Federation of Noida and Greater Noida Apartment Owners Association (FONAA), advised TOI that the Authority officials had mentioned the Master Plan of 2031 made in 2006 the place they've listed Sector 123 as a landfill web site.

However, he added the Authority had no longer informed NGT of a giant residential hub near Sector 123 landfill web site in May 2018. As in keeping with a letter gained in September 2013 from State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority, UP (SEIAA) it’s clear the garbage could be segregated at Sector 151A and taken to Astoli web site the place a Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) processing and disposal could be arrange.

“An MoU was once signed on the above between Noida Authority and GNIDA in December 2014. We asked CEO Tandon that if Astoli was once designated as a MSW processing and disposal web site in 2013, how come the Master Plan of 2031 state Sector 123 as a landfill web site? Also, if Sector 123 was once firstly mentioned in Master Plan 2031 to be a landfill, then why was once land round Sector 123 offered to builders? Why this flip flop? Now, the lives of over 5 lakh inhabitants as well as that of future generations had been risked,’ said Chandra.

Tandon did not respond to calls and messages. Also MP Mahesh Sharma and MLA Pankaj Singh additionally did not cope with the media after assembly.

Women of neighbouring areas demanded instant halt on dumping rubbish within the area. Waste is being transported in open trolleys and vans (nearly 24 in keeping with day) and saved within the open. MP Mahesh Sharma has steered the putting in place of a committee of people drawn from residential societies and villages and Noida authority officials to find a strategy to the problem.
