MADURAI: The Madurai bench of the Madras top courtroom on Wednesday quashed all court cases towards actors Vadivelu and Kushboo in reference to the alleged poll code violations they indulged in while campaigning for DMK candidate K Vijayan in Natham constituency in 2011.
Police booked instances towards the actors for unlawful assembly and for causing public nuisance.
Justice G R Swaminathan, before whom the case came for a last hearing, quashed the court cases towards the actors while watching that campaigning is a democratic process.
Chiding police for booking a case of public nuisance towards Vadivelu according to a complaint by a village administrative officer, the pass judgement on noticed that the general public had no longer come forward to document a complaint.
