IIT programme to groom 35 girls for careers in science begins

BHUBANESWAR: Thirty-five lady students from other parts of the state will likely be counselled on occupation options in science and generation on the IIT Bhubaneswar campus as a part of the Centre's Vigyan Jyoti programme that began on Monday.
They will keep on campus until June 24.

A scholarship of Rs five,000 will likely be given to each participant after the final touch of the programme, which is being funded by means of the Centre's division of science and generation, legit assets mentioned.

The institute decided on 30 lady students from other parts of the state, and five from the villages adopted by means of it. These include, amongst others, Argul and Khudapur villages near the campus beneath the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.


On the primary day, Gitanjali Batmanabane, director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and R V Rajakumar, director of IITBBS, welcomed the women and shared their studies with them.


Batamanabane urged the students not to forestall finding out and encouraged them to pursue their occupation further.


"This initiative will not only empower the students with knowledge, but help them interact with eminent academicians across the country while pursuing a bright career in science and technology," mentioned Rajakumar.


Prominent girls scientists or college individuals, entrepreneurs and directors from other parts of the rustic will even have interaction with the women. They will experience trips to planetariums, science laboratories, analysis centres and puts of historic hobby as part of the exposure visit.
