Maha Govt warns of action if eligible students are charged excess fees

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Government warned faculties of stringent action in the event that they charged greater than part the prescribed charges to the scholars whose family income is below Rs 8 lakh in step with annum.

Under the Rajarshee Shahu Educational Fee Scholarship scheme, the government bears 50 in step with cent of the cost burden of these students through moving the cash at once to schools.

A government observation said that the Director of Technical Education has been suggested to take strict action against the institutes taking extra fee from such students.

Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil said the government pays part the costs of scholars seeking admission to agriculture, medicine and 605 other professional courses below the scheme.

But there were complaints that some faculties had been still challenging full charges from the scholars whose parental income is less than Rs 8 lakh in step with annum, or denying admission if the total fee used to be not paid, he said.
