Mumbai rains: BMC cancels officers' weekly offs

MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Thursday, cancelled the weekly Saturday and Sunday offs for its officers after heavy rain warnings were issued by means of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Heavy rains lashed the town on Thursday, leaving a number of vicinities waterlogged, together with the Hindmata area close to Dadar. Waterlogged streets have also led to for hampered visitors mobility within the town.


Furthermore, a Jet Airways London-Mumbai flight, 9W-117 used to be diverted to Ahmedabad airport due to the heavy rains on Wednesday.


Earlier, water-logging has been reported in several spaces together with Malabar Hill and Hindmata, Dharavi, Byculla, Dadar TT, Kabutarkhana at Dadar, King Circle, Nagpada, Santacruz (East) and Marol Maroshi.


According to media reviews, services and products of native trains have also been affected on the Central line working 15 to 20 minutes overdue and 20 to 25 minutes on Western line.


At least 9 flights of various airways were also diverted to different airports because of congestion at Mumbai and inclement weather prerequisites.
