NAVI MUMBAI: Two children have reportedly died and around 80 persons, together with children, had been hospitalised allegedly because of meals poisoning after they consumed dinner presented at a 'math' of Ganpati temple in Mahad village near Khopoli in Khalapur taluka.
The dinner used to be presented by means of a neighborhood villager, Subhash Mane, for his house-warming serve as, on Monday evening.
According to the Khalapur Police, Mahad resident Subhash Mane had invited around 500 visitors in his village for dinner at his house-warming rite. Around 9pm, after the first round of serving meals were given over, the kids who had consumed meals beginning feeling nausea, dizziness and stomach pain. Even the adults mentioned feeling uneasy and hence suspecting meals poisoning, the ill visitors have been rushed to Parvati clinic in Khopoli. As the collection of sufferers began increasing and reached around 80, they have been rushed to MGM clinic in Kamothe, Gandhi clinic in Panvel and likewise DY Patil clinic in Nerul.
The Khalapur Police mentioned that reportedly two children admitted to MGM clinic in Kamothe have died. Prima facie, an unintentional loss of life case has been registered at Khalpaur police station. The police also are probing if some one has deliberately poisoned the large quantity of meals ready for the visitors within the village out of jealously against the person who had organized dinner for his newly constructed dwelling.
