Patiala stares at crisis as groundwater level dips

PATIALA: The water disaster is all set to present a big blow to citizens in the homeland of the Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh as the groundwater degree had gone beneath 750 feet.

Suresh Kumar, executive engineer, water supply department, stated, "We have replaced around 24 tubewells as they could not provide water anymore following the depletion of groundwater. The water had gone down beyond the 750 feet in 500 km line under corporation limits. The areas like Model town, Sanjay Colony, Vikas Colony, Dashmesh Nagar, Sirhindi Gate, Tyagi Mandir, Mathura Colony, Sular Road, Bishan Nagar and others are facing extreme depletion of groundwater."


"The water scarcity can affect the population that had also increased over the years. In some areas, the residents have already made their way to get water and had installed water pumps in their houses," he added.
