Rain drags down mercury, more showers likely

GURUGRAM: Midnight showers led to mercury to dip via several levels within the city on Wednesday, giving residents a welcome respite from the heat. The humidity content, on the other hand, remained high. Officials at the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) said extra showers are more likely to lash the town till Friday sooner than beginning to taper off.


According to RWFC officials, most temperatures are more likely to hover across the 35°C mark till Friday. The city were reeling beneath an intense heatwave during the last one week, with mercury hovering over 43°C and humidity closing high.


On Wednesday, the showers reduced the town’s most temperature to 33°C from the 37°C recorded on Tuesday. Humidity stood at 63%, leading to a muggy day. Officials said easterly winds are starting their advent into the town, inflicting rains. “Rainfall will continue till Friday. On Wednesday, we recorded 7.7mm of rainfall around the NCR, however there was comparatively extra rainfall in Ghaziabad and Greater Noida,” an RWFC authentic informed TOI. The authentic additionally said the town is more likely to witness high-intensity squalls on Thursday. Winds of up to 70-80 km/hr are more likely to sweep around the area.
