Shame 'friendly' policing: Vagabond left to die

HYDERABAD: A 35-year-old vagabond dumped by way of police in the bushes close to Abdullapurmet with both arms tied, crawled to the forested house, sooner than the sizzling warmth pushed him to death. The beggar was bundled out of a police automobile and tossed onto a desolate roadside on May 21 to be later picked again and rushed to health center but it surely was too late to avoid wasting the sinking man. Four policemen had been suspended after the incident.

At the Meerpet police station, the cops discovered him to be nuisance on account of his eccentric ways and dumped him on the freeway at Abdullapurmet. They did not bother that the vagabond's arms were tied with a rope.


After details of the beggar demise due to police apathy trickled out, his members of the family from Tamil Nadu contacted police. Later, police helped them cremate the body.


"We have sent the viscera to forensic science laboratory for analysis and only after we receive the lab and autopsy report, we will know the exact cause of death. There were no external injuries on the body," Abdullapurmet inspector D Muni said.


Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat suspended 4 cops of Meerpet police station, together with sub-inspectors Mohd Masiuddin, V Srinivas Reddy, Assistant Sub-Inspector Chand Pasha and Head Constable Sanjeev Reddy. "An inquiry will be launched," said Rachakonda commissioner.
