Train traffic on landslide-hit route restored

MANGALURU: Train traffic that was affected because of landslide at the Shirady Ghat segment over Hassan–Mangaluru segment on Thursday was restored by five.30pm.
Continuous heavy rain led to landslide at the railway line at kilometre 86/200–85/900 between Shirivagilu and Subramhanya Road railway stations over Mysuru department of South Western Railway, divisional railway PRO Y G Sathish, mentioned.


Train 16516 Karwar–Yesvantpur specific had reached Subrahmanya Road station when the landslide happened. All the passengers were equipped food and drinks on the station. The train was cancelled between Subrahmanya Road and Yesvantpur for the day and entire refund of fare arranged for passengers of the train at Subrahmanya Road station.


The empty rake was despatched to Mangaluru junction and passengers who were keen to return to Mangalore allowed to commute within the train.


Train 16575 Yesvantpur–Mangaluru junction Gomateshwara specific was cancelled between Kadagaravalli and Mangaluru junction for the day. Since Kadagaravalli is a block station with facilities available just for operational purposes, food pieces were moved in train engine from Sakleshpur and equipped to passengers.


The train was introduced from Kadagaravalli to Hassan junction the place passengers could transfer by trade delivery facilities to their puts of selection. KSRTC officials at Hassan were alerted about arrival of passengers at Hassan station.
