Mysuru: A manager and computer operator hooked up to a warehouse of Food and Civil Supplies (FCS) division were booked for diverting civil supplies meant for public distribution, on Saturday.
Mylaraiah, the chief, and Basavaraju, the computer operator working in Nanjangud warehouse, have long past lacking after FSC deputy director (sr) Ok Rameshwarappa lodged a police grievance against the duo.
A marvel test on the warehouse published that almost 1,165 quintals of rice, 196 quintals of wheat and 36 quintals of tur dal were lacking from the warehouse. The officials have continued checking of stocks within the godown. Police officials, too, visited the spots following a grievance.
Rameshwarappa informed STOI that it used to be a routine inspection. He used to be stunned as large amount of meals grains have long past lacking from the government-run warehouse. They had been meant to be provided to ration card holders under public distribution system. He stated equivalent tests would be conducted on all godowns within the districts to verify the meals stuffs don't seem to be misused or diverted.
“We’re probing to grasp when and the way they diverted the meals grains from the warehouse that had been to be allotted to public through honest value retail outlets,” he added.
“Yes, there have been irregularities within the distribution of meals grains meant for PDS in Nanjangud. There has been a large-scale looting of meals grains together with some 96 qunitals of wheat from the local godown. This came about in spite of the local deputy director of the department being in-charge of safeguarding the meals grains. Accordingly, I've issued a suspension order for the deputy director of Mysuru.”
