CCTV cameras likely to be mandatory for new buildings

HUBBALLI: It will probably be obligatory to install closed circuit tv (CCTV) cameras on the premises of upcoming houses and constructions in Hubballi-Dharwad, if a proposal of the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissionerate is authorised via the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation.

The cameras will ensure safety of people and their properties besides helping detect crime and c onvict the guilty," he mentioned, adding that he'll meet the HDMC commissioner to apprise him of the want to make it obligatory to install cameras.
