Marredpally burdened by 50-yr-old sewage network

SECUNDERABAD: After greater than 50 years, the sewerage network in Marredpally continues to be in a shambles. Not lower than 80 to 100 proceedings flood the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) metro customer care on a daily basis on issues pertaining sewer leakages and overflowing manholes.

Though HMWS&SB had prepared an in depth project record on a more recent sewer equipment costing Rs 275 crore in 2014, the DPR has collected dust. “Laying of sewer trunks, outlet and inlet sewer network and construction of manholes have been proposed in the DPR,” water board normal manager, O&M division-VII (Marredpally), D Sudarshan told TOI.

The main downside facing this residential hub, a senior official said, is that “the existing sewer network cannot raise the burden of sewer water of burgeoning residential colonies” . The water board is also hamstrung via funds.

The water board has laid two forms of sewer network, include E-main, masking East Marredpally, and M-main masking West Marredpally. A replica M-Main was once laid between Marredpally via Bible House, Secunderabad, as much as Fever Hospital Jn via Ashok Nagar at Nallagutta, and Marredpally.

Though the water board was once able to increase sewer network to more colonies in Marredpally, rock formations and denial of permissions for roadcutting have hindered paintings, a senior HMWS&SB official told TOI. “Whenever we get sewerrelated proceedings from locals, our males attend to them on priority. We deploy mini tech jetting machines to clean the choked sewer network,” official said.
