Parents sore over school demand for Rs 2L 'deposit'

CHENNAI: At least 100 parents staged an illustration at the campus of Srimathi Sundaravalli Memorial School on Friday after the establishment despatched them a letter to call for that they pay a 'warning deposit' of 2 lakh each and every.
The faculty spoke back by saying it could either close down or surrender administration to another agency on the earliest. The faculty, with campuses in Chromepet and Perungalathur, has nearly four,000 scholars on its rolls.

On July 18, the varsity despatched a letter to the oldsters (a copy of which is available with TOI ), mentioning that spiralling costs had made it extraordinarily difficult to administer the establishment.

After Friday's protest, officers of the varsity training department arrived at the two campuses and held talks with the oldsters and management.

"We have instructed the school to withdraw the letter demanding 2 lakh from the parents," Kancheepuram chief educational officer Angelo Irudayasamy advised TOI. "We will soon seek a written explanation from the management."

He described the letter as "unwarranted".
