HYDERABAD: Soon, Hyderabad Metro Rail stations will sport an airport-like feel. Commuters travelling from the Metro stations to different public delivery hubs similar to railway stations and bus depots can lift their luggage in trolleys and go away the trolleys in the back of at the platform itself.
NVS Reddy, managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), said with works on the rest of Corridor One (Ameerpet to LB Nagar) expected to be finished through the tip of July, the stretch will likely be thrown open to the general public in August.
“In a few months, commuters will have the ability to experience an airport-sort of environment at Metro stations. A commuter travelling from Miyapur or Kukatpally to Secunderabad railway station can just stay their luggage in their trolley and later go away the trolleys at the platform itself,” said Reddy.
The amenities will first be rolled out at Metro stations located with regards to important public delivery hubs — Nampally, Secunderabad, Malakpet and Begumpet Metro stations. All those stations are located near busy railway educate stations and MGBS and JBS stations, that are located with regards to bus depots. Reddy added that when rolled out, this would be the first such facility to be made available at any Metro station in India.
Apart from this, authorities are making plans to convert Metro stations into ‘hubs of task’ where commuters can even shop for groceries and different essentials.
“We have added parts for ground-level development, similar to high quality footpaths, safety railings to segregate pedestrian traffic from vehicular traffic, greenery along medians and side road furniture. At Miyapur, for instance, we now have created greater than 10 acres of high quality public area. We are actually converting those puts into hubs of task—where commuters can to find whatever they need. On best, 20% of the concourse space is earmarked for retail outlets from where commuters can shop for groceries and different essentials,” Reddy added.
