Imran Khan to move into official residence: Report

ISLAMABAD: A house within the Ministers' Enclave in Islamabad shall be declared the legit place of abode of Imran Khan, who is ready to develop into Pakistan's new high minister, as his private house is liable to threats, in keeping with a media file.

Khan's PakistanTehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has emerged as the single biggest birthday celebration within the National Assembly after the July 25 elections. Khan, 65, would take oath because the high minister on August 11.

Khan, in his victory speech on July 26, had introduced that he would not use the Prime Minister's House as his place of abode and that his birthday celebration would later make a decision the fate of the development.

Shortly after his birthday celebration's victory within the elections, the police and the district management started extending VVIP protocol and safety to Khan. Security used to be tightened round Khan's Banigala place of abode, Dawn newspaper reported.

Senior cops visited Khan's Banigala place of abode and assessed the home and the area round it, including the hills.

The police officials stated there used to be no standard working procedure for the high minister in-waiting, however since Khan is likely to be the following high minister, important measures have been taken for his safety, the file stated.

They discussed safety issues with PTI chief Naeemul Haq in addition to the chief safety officer of the place of abode, it stated.

Issues regarding the legit place of abode of the high minister-in-waiting also came underneath dialogue. The officials briefed them about the usual working procedure (SOP) associated with the security and protocol of the high minister, the file added.

The senior officials also met Khan and briefed him about safety and protocol.

During the meeting, the district management officials informed him that his place of abode may not be supplied foolproof safety as the area used to be open and liable to threats.

Earlier, there used to be an option to declare Banigala place of abode as Khan's legit place of abode.


Khan then agreed not to use Banigala as his legit place of abode, the officials informed Dawn.


A few extra options have been also given to him, including using an lodging at the Ministers' Enclave, which he authorized, the file stated.


However, he asked for a lowest category house at the enclave, it stated.


There are residences which fall within the lowest category, however since important SOPs and protocol for high minister may not be implemented there, the senior officials urged Khan in opposition to using a flat and as a substitute desire a house to which Khan agreed, the file stated.
