Allahabad high court stays arrest of three IIT-Kanpur professors

ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad prime court on Thursday stayed the arrest of Rajeev Shekhar, director of Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad and 3 others in reference to an FIR registered in Kanpur under the Prevention of Atrocities towards Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes Act and different provisions of law.

Besides, the court also issued realize to the complainant, assistant professor Dr Subramanium Sadrela, a faculty member of IIT-Kanpur, who had lodged the FIR towards the petitioners, and directed him to file his reply inside four weeks. Hearing a petition filed via Rajeev Shekhar and 3 different IIT-Ok professors, Chandra Shekhar Upadhyay, Ishant Sharma and Sanjay Mithal, a bench of Justice Bala Krishna Narayana and Justice Rajiv Joshi directed to listing the petition after four weeks.
