Height rules for central paramilitary forces relaxed for men from northeast

GUWAHATI: The house ministry on Thursday issued a be aware stress-free top norms for recruitment of male Gorkha and Scheduled Tribe applicants from the north-eastern states in the central armed police forces.

The house ministry stated the decision have been made to deal with “uniformity in top norms of male Gorkhas and male Schedule Tribe applicants” from the north-east region. Union minister of state for house Kiren Rijiju tweeted, “With this relaxation, numerous youths from the north-east and Gorkhas might be recruited in CAPFs.”


According to the revised norms, the height of male ST applicants from the northeast for recruitment as constables has been diminished from 162.5cm to 157cm. For the post of sub-inspector (normal duty), the height for ST applicants from the region and Gorkhas has been diminished to 157cm from 165cm.
