Patiala MC awaits government's nod to shift dairies out of city limits

PATIALA: The project to shift dairies out of town limits continues to hold in the stability as Patiala municipal corporation is but to get an approval at the factor. Although the corporation remaining week had sent an in depth proposal to the state govt, it's but to bag an approval.

The Rs 13-crore project proposes to carry dairy animals from town underneath one roof in Ablowal village. In the first section, the MC has proposed to allot 150 plots to dairy house owners at sponsored rates. The house will have facilities like a biogas plant, a sewerage treatment plant and a veterinary health facility.


In Patiala, there are around 129 massive dairies, and each and every has over 10 animals. Similarly, town has over 100 small dairies and each and every has 3 to 5 animals.


"We are hopeful to receive an approval on the proposal of shifting dairies soon. Earlier, the project was no the part of Patiala's masterplan, however, it has been added now. Over 1,500 dairy animals will be shifted to Ablowal village. The residents will have to purchase the land at an estimated cost of Rs 3,500 per sq mt, however, the exact amount will be announced after the project receives a green light from the state government," mentioned PMC executive engineer G S Walia.


Notably, the Patiala municipal corporation had earlier as neatly submitted an in depth project record (DPR) to the state govt but failed to get an approval. In 2003, leader minister Amarinder Singh had plans to shift all dairies from the interiors of town to Ablowal village. However, he failed to give the project any shape.
