Union minister Ananth Kumar passes away at 59 in Bengaluru

NEW DELHI/BENGALURU: Union minister HN Ananth Kumar, 59, passed away in Bengaluru in the wee hours on Monday. He was once undergoing treatment for cancer at Shankara Cancer Hospital in Bengaluru.

Following serious headaches and infection, Kumar had been on ventilator for the previous few days. Minister of parliamentary affairs, Kumar had been diagnosed with cancer prior to the Karnataka meeting polls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over Ananth Kumar's loss of life.

Mortal stays of Ananth Kumar will likely be stored at his house Sumera on Lalbagh Road till 8 am for family members to pay tribute. Later, it will be shifted to the National College Grounds.



Calling Kumar a chum, Rajnath Singh too offered condolence to his family.



A six-time Parliamentarian from the city, Kumar had been indisposed for the previous few months and was once stated to be undergoing treatment in London and New York.


Tejaswini, Kumar's wife, had on Friday stated that the minister was once being given the best treatment for cancer however serious infection was once causing concen. He was once responding neatly to the treatment, she had stated.


Union Home minister Rajnath Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had not too long ago visited Ananth Kumar in the clinic.
