YSR Congress not to contest assembly polls in Telangana

AMARAVATI: The YSR Congress Saturday decided not to contest the December 7 meeting elections in Telangana since its 'complete focus' is on the 2019 elections in Andhra Pradesh, its precise base.

The celebration, alternatively, stated it could take steps to support the organisation throughout Telangana with the elections in 2024 as the objective.

The YSRC received 3 meeting seats and one Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 elections, however its elected legislators therefore switched aspects to the ruling TRS.

A remark from the YSRC Central Committee late Saturday night time stated the verdict not to contest the polls was taken since 'our complete focus' was on the 2019 common elections in Andhra Pradesh.

"Taking into account the happenings (in Telangana) in the last four and a half years, we have decided not to contest the elections in that state," the remark added.

The YSRC is fighting a do-or-die political struggle in Andhra Pradesh and the 2019 elections are critical for its future.

Meanwhile, the Jana Sena Party stated it could take a decision on fighting the Telangana elections in a couple of days.

"There is a few uncertainty in the celebration because of the mid-term elections in Telangana.

Had the elections been performed as in step with agenda (in 2019), we wanted to contest 23 Assembly and 3 Lok Sabha seats," Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan stated in Vijayawada.

Some candidates were keen to jump into the fray as independents and sought Jana Senas beef up, he stated.

"We will deliberate all aspects and take a decision in a few days," he added.
