AMBALA: Despite assurances from the district administration, the State Bank of India General Insurance Company (SBIGIC) has did not compensate the farmers affected by the paddy crop loss.
The farmers in the district suffered losses because of rain and hailstorm in September and October this 12 months.
Bharatiya Kisan Union's (BKU) district media coordinator Rajeev Sharma mentioned, “The executive and the administration are making fun of farmers. They had sought one week's to unlock the crop-loss compensation on December 17 and we had given them more time till December 27. An ultimatum used to be also given if the compensation is not released the farmers will level a protest lately. Now the farmers have staged an indefinite protest on the DC place of business.”
The BKU, in its press unlock, mentioned because the administration has given no deadline to unlock the compensation amount.
Those farmers that have insured their crops are to be compensated through the SBIGIC and while the remainder of them will receive compensation from the Revenue Department.
On Friday, the farmers visited the deputy commissioner's (DC) place of business for the fifth time.
Jai Singh, a farmer from village Jalbera mentioned, “In just about 55 villages on Hisar Road, the paddy crop used to be destroyed through the hailstorm. We had insured the crop, and the premium for paddy used to be deducted on July 31, and just about 10 days in the past, the premium for wheat has also been deducted through the insurance corporate. Till date, we now have no longer won the compensation despite insuring the crops. How will we continue to exist on this scenario?”
Nitesh a consultant of SBIGIC, “Within a length of 1 month, I can provide the main points of the farmers eligible to get compensation to the administration. At this second, the information at our place of business is in very hotch-potch condition and we want more time to paintings on that.”
