DHARWAD: The Dharwad railway station, which had been in part renovated a few years ago, will likely be developed as a hi-tech station with extra amenities for other people, specifically for senior citizens.
The Union government has released Rs 17.37 crore for the improvement of the railway station and the works will likely be completed in a 12 months, stated MP Prahlad Joshi.
Speaking after laying the root stone for development works of the railway station on Monday he stated, emphasis used to be given to improve railway infrastructure. In the final four years, 15,000 km of new rail line have been laid. To improve the railway stations coming below the SWR Hubballi zone, the government has allotted Rs 11,920 crore within the final four years, he added.
Speaking on long term railway tasks, Joshi stated the Hubballi-Bengaluru railway doubling paintings used to be rapid progressing and will likely be completed ahead of 2020. Once the venture is whole, superfast trains will likely be presented in which other people from Hubballi can reach the state capital inside of four hours, he claimed
“The railway under-bridge paintings at Kalyan Nagar has were given a nod from the Centre but the railways is waiting for the state government to release its 50% proportion in value to invite tenders, the MP stated.
Upcoming amenities
The railway station could have a brand new development and the flooring on the platforms will likely be replaced. Water ATMs, modular kitchens, a meals plaza, a 2d skywalk for better connectivity to platforms and development of roads connecting the railway station with town will likely be part of the Rs 17.37 crore works. Joshi stated doubling of track between Kambarganvi-Alnavar and Hebsur-Annigeri has been completed. Seven pairs of new trains have been presented providing better connectivity to different parts of the country. In addition, frequency of four pairs of trains has been increased and stoppages are supplied to 3 superfast trains at the station.
Escalators have been supplied at Hubballi railway station and battery-operated vehicles have been launched in Hubballi and Dharwad railway stations below MPLAD budget, he added.
