'LDF expansion due to fear of electoral debacle'

KOCHI/ THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The spectre of failure in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls forced the Left Democratic Front (LDF) to make bigger through accommodating political parties they considered until lately as corrupt and communal, opposition chief Ramesh Chennithala stated in Kochi on Thursday. "The CPM has the responsibility to explain how the Indian National League (INL), which they treated as a communal outfit, became a secular party overnight," Chennithala informed a information convention.
"The CPM had called M P Veerendrakumar a land encroacher and was agitating against him. V S Achuthanandan led a fight against R Balakrishna Pillai, accusing him of corruption and ensured him a jail term. I would like to know how the CPM is viewing these agitations," Chennithala stated.

The choice presentations that the CPM has no qualms about compromising with corruption, the opposition chief stated.

Accusing the state government of misusing authentic machinery to arrange 'Women's Wall' Chennithala stated they'd transfer legally and politically in opposition to the 'communal' event. "There is widespread compulsory fund collection as part of the programme and they have not even spared those on welfare pension and NREGS workers," Chennithala stated, adding that the transfer has break up even government officials into two camps.

Stating that the federal government has now directed the panchayat secretaries and municipal chairpersons to take steps to increase participation in the 'Women's Wall', he stated the directives on this regard are illegal.

In a commentary, KPCC president Mullappally Ramchandran stated the INL and Kerala Congress (B) have been essentially the most fascinating parties for LDF, which according to him has became out to be 'den of communal forces and the corrupt'.

BJP state president P S Sreedharan Pillai stated the CPM used to be making frantic efforts to retain its dropping foothold through opening the doorways of LDF to 'communal' INL and 'corrupt' Balakrishna Pillai. "INL was considered a more communal organization compared to IUML. Balakrishna Pillai is the only Kerala politician convicted in a corruption case. Both of them have now become the darlings of LDF. It shows the depth of CPM's fall as a political party," he stated.

Meanwhile, BJP will organize a meet of leaders from different parties, who've lately joined BJP. "As per our calculations, around 18,000 people who had been active in other parties have joined BJP in the recent months. The doors of BJP are open and we hope more workers from other parties would join BJP in coming days,"he stated.
