CHENNAI: An unidentified man escaped with Rs 20,000 from a senior citizen after diverting his consideration at an ATM in Virugambakkam right here on Friday.
Thiruvengadam, 65, was at an SBI ATM when an unidentified man approached him mentioning that the ATM was now not operating correctly and that he would assist him withdraw money.
Thiruvengadam passed over his debit card to the man and printed the PIN quantity. The man inserted the card within the ATM and entered the PIN quantity. After sometime, he advised Thiruvengadam that he may just withdraw money.
Thiruvengadam withdraw Rs 10,000 money. When he reached home, Thiruvengadam noticed an SMS on his cell phone which suggested that he had withdrawn Rs 20,000 using the card just prior to taking flight Rs 10,000.
Thiruvengadam lodged a grievance with the Virugambakkam police, who introduced a hunt for the miscreant.
The police had been checking CCTV footages to nab the suspect.
