THANE: After experiencing a pleasing climate during the last few days, lake-city denizens aroused from sleep to a cold and windy morning on Thursday because the mercury levels dropped by way of about 4 degrees Celsius since Wednesday night.
While the utmost temperatures was once soaring around 34 to 35 degrees Celsius during the last week it dropped all the way down to 28 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The minimal temperatures, which were rather low during the last few weeks, also dropped from 19 degrees Celsius on Wednesday to 17 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
"The climate has been really cool since Wednesday night and the strong cold winds continued throughout the next day. The breeze was extremely cold a little before noon and we had to actually shut the windows and switch of the fan to stop shivering," stated Shruti S, a Waghbil resident.
Weathermen point out that this drop in temperature and the these days cool climate is as a result of the exchange in wind instructions, and the climate will stay the similar for the following couple of days after which it is going to build up by way of 1 to two degrees Celsius again.
"The areas Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra, which includes of Mumbai and Thane, have started receiving the cool north easterly winds blowing over from the snow-capped Himalayas. Over the past two days the maximum temperatures have dropped by 4 to 5 degrees and the minimum have dropped by about 2 to 3 degrees," stated Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist at skymetweather.
"The formation of troughs in the area has also resulted in strong cool breezes in these regions. This weather is expected to stay cool till December 30, after which the temperatures may increase marginally because of a brewing disturbance," Palawat added.
Thane resident, Gopal Tripathy says, "The weather has become extremly cool in the past few days, we have started wearing a sweater during our morning walks."
