Woman didn’t fall from 14th floor, was killed over dowry: Kin

GREATER NOIDA: The family of a girl, who died on December 11 after allegedly falling from the 14th floor of Ecovillage society in Noida Extension, has alleged that she was killed by way of her husband and brother-in-law. They have filed a case of dowry death against the accused.
The victim, Aarti Kumari (29), was an authentic resident of a remote village in Patna. She was married to Vivek Kumar, an authentic resident of Nalanda district in Bihar in July 2013.

The couple have been dwelling in a rented flat here along side Aarti’s brother-in-law Vinit.


Aarti’s brother Abhimanyu informed TOI that she was subjected to harassment by way of her in-laws for dowry that led to her mysterious death. “My sister’s marriage was organized with Vivek. Things have been high quality within the marriage till 2015 when the two shifted to Noida Extension. Vivek and her in-laws started harassing my sister over dowry,” Abhimanyu said.


The family has demanded a proper probe within the case as they allege that the circumstantial evidence tells a distinct story. “Vivek said he took my sister to a health center in Ghaziabad the place she was declared brought lifeless and because of the trade of district, we’ve nonetheless not received the autopsy file,” Abhimanyu added.


Vivek, Vinit, their parents and their aunt were booked underneath sections 498 A (husband or relative of husband of a girl subjecting her to cruelty), 34 (acts carried out by way of several individuals in furtherance of not unusual purpose), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 304 B (dowry death) of IPC and underneath sections of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. “The family is at the run. We’re looking ahead to the autopsy file. They can be arrested soon,” said Anil Shahi, SHO of Bisrakh police station.
