10 booked for ransacking hospital after death of kin

SURAT: Athwa police booked a group of 10 individuals for ransacking a trust-run hospital and attacking its group of workers after death of their relative.

The complaint was lodged by Jay Modi, a resident of Adajan and worker of Ok P Sanghvi Hospital. In his complaint, Modi alleged that the accused entered into arguments with the hospital group of workers and later attacked them in the emergency ward on first ground. They thrashed a ward boy and a security group of workers. They even broken some assets.


Police investigation printed that Kamlesh Patil, 28, a resident of Pandesara, was admitted in the hospital for remedy of pneumonia. He was shifted here after preliminary remedy at another hospital. However, he died on Tuesday morning. The circle of relatives alleged that Patil died because of deficient remedy.


“Investigation is on to identify those concerned in the attack. We are yet to make arrests as all of them are busy with the funeral and remaining rites,” stated a police officer at Athwa police station.


The accused were booked for rioting and unlawful assembly. They were additionally booked under Gujarat Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss of Property) Act.
