THANE: The classes court docket has convicted a 26-year-old guy has been convicted of stalking a Class X student from his neighbourhood in Ghodbunder Road.
The accused, Shivkumar Mourya, has been sentenced to jail time period, which he has already passed through all through his trial for a month along with imposing a tremendous of Rs 20,000.
Sanjay Londhe, district government pleader and Vinit Kulkarni instructed the court docket that during August 2015 while the victim was on her strategy to faculty, Mourya would stalk her.
“This happened several instances and as soon as while she was travelling in the bus the accused sat next to her and tried to touch her inappropriately. Fed up with frequent harassment, the victim instructed her mother about the same. The mother then lodged a police criticism, which was subsequently made into an FIR after which Mourya was arrested, said Londhe.
The defense counsel submitted that the accused was a 26-year-old youth and the only bread winner of his family and that he did not know the victim.
After listening to both the sides, the pass judgement on pointed out that the maximum punishment is imprisonment for 3 years with tremendous. “However, if the alleged act of the accused is in comparison with other acts discussed in the ones respective sections, then surely the function of the accused is way lighter,” the pass judgement on observed. — Nishikant Karlikar
