RANCHI: Police recorded 40,665 circumstances of cars jumping the purple gentle at 13 intersections once they offered the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANP) system right here at the hours of darkness when the New Year started.

The ANPR detects visitors offences like over-speed, creation of visitors obstructions, movement into no-entry zones, driving motorcycles without helmets, jumping the purple gentle, now not wearing seat belts and for triple pillion driving.


"The new system can book an individual for multiple violations and issue e-challans accordingly. Fines will be charged according to motor vehicle rules. Challans will be sent by post and the violators will have to pay the fine within seven days," Ranchi SSP Anish Gupta mentioned.


On the opposite hand, folks on the streets nonetheless appear most commonly unaware of the new system.
